Hakim Sohail, Visiting Scholar, UTK College of Law, presented about Rotary’s polio eradication efforts in Afghanistan.
He is a founding member of the Rotary Club of Afghanistan. He contracted polio as a child and has participated in vaccination efforts in Afghanistan, one of the last 2 countries with active wild polio cases. He talked a little about vaccinating kids at soccer games, challenges with the Taliban, and distrust of vaccines.
This is an incredible first person account. This was presented at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville on October 4, 2023. The UTK Rotaract Club hosted the event to promote the Purple Pinkie Campaign.
